THE 5TH WAVE BOOK REVIEW

Title: The 5th Wave
Author: Rick Yancey [Twitter||Facebook]
Published: May 7, 2013
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

                    Synopsis

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

                                                                Review

As soon as I’m finished with this book all I can think about is Cassie and Evan. What the hell. I remember reading the first 5 chapters of this book before they released it and I was totally hooked, months have passed and I completely forgotten to read the whole book because of school works. So when the recent book signing event here in our country happened and which I attended to, one of my friends talked about it and said that it was so good, that’s when it clicked to my mind that I need to start over again with the book. I downloaded it and ta-da! Hello 1 AM.

Now let’s go with the review, Rick Yancey’s The 5th Wave; the first book in the trilogy is a fast paced and action thrilling novel. The story is told in three different points of views, the one is Cassie and the other two will be a secret because it will spoil the fun. And that’s one of the things that I love about this book, the different POVs, and all of them are engaging that you can’t even stop reading it.

The characters are easily to talk to, I mean they are fun to read since they all have this mysterious aura in them, they all have their own secrets to hide, their own weaknesses to conceal.  And the main character, Cassie Sullivan to be exact is a one of a hell girl. She’s tough and hardcore, and she will do everything just to save her family, although she’s vulnerable at some point. Well everyone is vulnerable, we’re human. Then here comes Evan Walker, I really love his character. The way he treat Cassie is giving me heartache! They are meant to be oh my god, the dying feels I feel right now. He sure is gentleman and maybe he’s the descendant of Shakespeare for his poetic lines. Here:

“ We’re here, and then we’re gone, and it’s not about the time we’re here, but what we do with the time.”

Another one,

“It’s hopeless. And it’s stupid. It’s suicidal. But love is a weapon they have no answer for. They know how you think, but they can’t know what you feel.”

Then that’s it, if you ever hold this book in a bookstore, I’m sure that when you go out from the store. This book will be in your hands and you are reading it. I don’t want to make this longer because 1.) You will get bored. 2.) I don’t want to spoil the whole book.

My first read of Rick Yancey’s novels and definitely will not be the last. I’m warning you, you will never ever ever stop reading until you reach the last page. A good read, I recommend it to all readers who are big fans of action packed novels.
