  Synopsis

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters: her first kiss, the boy from summer camp, even her sister's ex-boyfriend, Josh. As she learns to deal with her past loves face to face, Lara Jean discovers that something good may come out of these letters after all.

Oh god I need more! Jenny Han how could you do that? Leaving us hanging there! But I’m so glad you end it that way, it’s the perfect ending for this book. At first, I’m not interested to read this because of its title; it’s too girly and cheesy.

The title bothers me a lot; it sounds like it’s only for girls and not the right book for me, but last night I decided to read it for two reasons 1.) The Summer Trilogy was great! Too fluffy I guess. 2.) A lot of my male bookworm friends suggested it; they say it was worth it and definitely for all readers.

So last night I realized that I should try it too, I did. I read the book at 11pm non-stop, I really enjoyed it. I find some scenes hilarious and lovely, Jenny Han’s writing changed so much it became more real, and she created lovable characters. She even includes some references from Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, I died when she has written that.

I really want to discuss Lara Jean and Peter’s characters in my review so here we go:

I really love how she wrote Lara Jean’s point of view, she’s too irresistible to like. Mainly because she’s a bookworm, an introvert (At first), a baker and she love words. I think she has the oh-so-perfect family even though she doesn’t have a mother anymore. And as the story goes, her personality changes slowly; she became more confident in herself, and became more outgoing. Her character development was done well.

And Peter, freaking Peter K. I knew the first time I saw him in the book (yeah literally) he would play a big role in the story and alas! I am not wrong, my instinct doesn’t betray me, ha! He’s a funny character that’s why I love it when he’s with Lara Jean; he brings out the best in her. They look cute together I swear, I always savour every moment they have in the book. He’s the boy next door type in the school and a member of Lacrosse Team, he’s one of Lara’s ex-friends but when Lara’s secret letters got sent unexpectedly something stirs up.

I actually liked the idea of this book, Lara Jean wrote five goodbye letters to the boys she loved and kept it with her until one day someone sent the letters to the five people and that’s how everything changes with her. I mean, if Lara wrote a goodbye letter to me, I will feel flattered (who wouldn’t right?) and it’s the cutest thing ever. I actually cracked up on her reaction when she learns that her letters was sent to the respective people, it was hilarious and embarrassing at the same time. 

This was very entertaining to read actually, it will never bore you and it will keep you reading until the last word. That ending though, oh my god. But the good thing is, this is a duology and the next book will be released next year so no worries! But but but, 2015 is months away. I don’t want to wait anymore!

After reading this book I have second thoughts whether should I come to her signing here in our country or not, I really want to, but I have a problem. I have Saturday Classes and my schedule is so tight so I don’t know. But I guess there’s nothing wrong in trying. So I highly recommend this to any reader who loves YA especially Contemporary novels. If you have nothing to do right now, better read this book!
